What To Expect In Your First Consultation

Meeting with a lawyer for the first time can be a little intimidating. When you're already dealing with a lot of stress because of your injuries, calling an attorney can feel like you're only making it worse.

At The Law Offices of Mitchell Clair, we know that initiating a meeting with a lawyer is not the easiest thing to do. You probably have questions and concerns about how the process will work, and maybe even some anxiety about working with an attorney. We'd like to make things a little easier by explaining what will happen in your initial consultation with us.

1. We come to you, or you come to us.

We know that you have suffered a serious injury if you need our help. We are happy to meet wherever it is easiest for you. If you are able to come to our office, we will meet here. If not, we will come to you.

2. Gather standard information.

The first thing we will do is gather some basic information about who you are, including your name, contact information, date of birth and other information that may be important to your case.

3. Tell us what happened.

We want to hear your story. We give you the time to explain what happened to you and how it has affected your life. We will encourage you to tell us everything you can remember because the more information we have the better we can build your case.

4. Go over your medical history.

Your medical history can play a major role in your case. We want to learn more about the injuries you suffered in the accident as well as any pre-existing conditions you might have. If you can, bring any paperwork you have that relates to your case, including medical records.

5. Explain what happens next.

After we have discussed the details of your case, we will explain what will happen next should you choose to work with us. At this time, we will give you an idea of what you can expect from the entire process and leave time for you to ask questions.
